Base Species or Cultivar:
Monstera deliciosa
Cultivar Origin:
Monstera Deliciosa large form
Name Origin:
King Green, named after the bright contrasting green variegation
Growth Habit:
Similar growth to Monstera Deliciosa, climbs given the opportunity, the leaves get larger as plants climb into maturity. The King Green is a large form and will develop multiple rows of fenestration and leaves can grow as large as 36”.
Leaf Blade:
Similar form and growth to normal monstera Deliciosa, each leaf will come out with different variegated markings. Sometimes they will be sectored blocks of color, and other times marbled, even on the same plant. Color intensifies with more light, making the variegation more distinguishable. The green on green in high light will be lime/dark evergreen, or an avacado/dark evergreen. In winter or lower light settings the variegation is less noticeable and turns a darker color, the interesting thing is that those leaves will still develop lighter when more light is provided.
Bloom and Fruit:
I have not had any blooms or fruit since acquiring my original specimen in 2019.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Interesting variegation, varying tones of green/green. Very large dramatic leaves with multiples rows of fenestration!
